About Tajikistan
Please look to the map of Tajikistan. Tajikistan is situated in
southeast of Central Asia, on the latitude of Greece and south
regions of Italy and Spain. Form west to east the territory of
the Republic is draw out to 700 kilometers and from north to south
is 350 km. The territory of Tajikistan is 143,1 thousand square
km. 93% of all territory is mountains, ingoing to of Pamir, Tan-Shan
and Pamir-Alay systems. The height of peaks by name of Somoni
(Communism), Korjanevskaya, Lenin and Dushanbe is more than 7
000 meters above sea level.
Tajikistan is the land of unlimited opportunities for tourists,
alpinists and mountain-skiers. Several high and powerful mountain
ridges cut the territory of the Republic. Fan Mountains have the
most popularity, located between Turkestan and Gissar mountain
ridge.
There are more than 300 sunny days and one can travel not only
in summer but in spring and autumn also. But winter - is the fine
time for mountain-ski sport.
It's difficult to say when first people are appeared in the territory
of Tajikistan, as the most ancient steps of their life are not
kept. It is well known that 150 thousand years ago people populated
part of the territory of Tajikistan.
During historical development the territory of modern Tajikistan
became the place of fierce battles with foreign aggressor beginning
from the forces of Alexander Macedon and ending with hordes of
Chingis-Khan.
The borders of modern Tajikistan are fixed in 1929. Tajikistan
has 6 million of different ethnic nationalities. In the same time
Tajik people consist 70% of population. There are 90 other nationalities
are living in Tajikistan. Among them Uzbeks, Russians, Tatars,
Kyrgyz, Ukrainian, Byelorussian, German and others.
The republic of Tajikistan is sovereign and rightful, democratic
state. The head of the republic is president.
State languages are Tajik, Russian.
About Dushanbe. The capital of Tajikistan Dushanbe is appeared
on the map only in 1924. Till 1924 there were 3 villages, one
of them with name - Dushanbe, which translated from Tajik as "Monday"-
just in this day there was bazaar day. In that time the population
of Tajikistan was not more than 300 people, but nevertheless it
was declared as capital.
The modern Dushanbe - is the town with many-storied houses and
with the population more than 1 million. The town is situated
on the both sides of Varzob River. The middle height of town is
about 800 meters above sea level. |
